Making the lesson meaningful is one of my main goals for this lesson plan. I try to incorporate many stories from people affected by weather in order to bring the content to life. I also try to get students to respond so they could view class as a place not just to learn other ideas but to get familiar with their own. At the beginning of each lesson, I attempt to review what we learned last class or tie together the new subject with yesterday's material. Diagrams, tables, and hopefully good note-taking strategies (mirrored by records on the board) help students make sense of the materials. Also student-taught lessons help assess the students and encourage peer mentoring of the materials.
